For the second time, Kauf Park Göttingen is taking on a tree sponsorship as part of the Göttinger Tageblatt’s tree-planting initiative.
On the roughly one-hectare forest area in the Leinholz, located above Mollenfelde and Schloss Berlepsch, up to 6,000 oak trees are set to be planted.
Together with other local companies, the VÖLKEL team took responsibility for the first planting section, consisting of around 1,000 sessile oaks.
Center Manager Nico Seidel, Junior Center Manager Helen Bachmann, and Assistant Bianca Göttert picked up their spades and spent nearly 90 minutes diligently planting one oak tree after another.
The forest area, situated in close proximity to the Hessian border, is being developed into a climate-resilient deciduous forest through the targeted planting of sessile oaks. These trees are especially well suited to thrive even under changing climate conditions, as they are adaptable and resistant to dry periods and hot summers. In times of climate change, this is an especially important factor in promoting biodiversity and stabilizing the environment in the long term.
“As the operator of Kauf Park Göttingen, we place great importance on sustainable management and environmental protection. The tree sponsorship is another important step in our commitment to responsible interaction with nature and the support of projects that have a long-term positive impact on our climate,” explains Nico Seidel, Center Manager at VÖLKEL in Kauf Park.
