EDISON COURTYARDS BERLIN-MITTE – VÖLKEL TAKES OVER COMPREHENSIVE MANAGEMENT MANDATE

The historic Edison Courtyards in Berlin were constructed in 1880 as the production site for the first light bulb in Germany and operated until 1905.

Today, the ensemble consists of the modern seven-story gatehouse (built in 2012) and the listed factory courtyards comprising eight individual buildings arranged around a central courtyard, dating back to 1880. These were extensively refurbished between 2001 and 2004. They create a unique atmosphere with a distinctive loft and campus character. As part of the renovation, additional floors were added and the original brick façade was meticulously restored in keeping with its historic details. In total, the Edison Courtyards offer approximately 27,700 square meters of usable space as well as parking facilities.

The various units comprise modern office, residential, and retail spaces. The property is fully let. The main tenant is HERE Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG.

The building complex is located in a central area of Berlin, at Invalidenstraße/Schlegelstraße, in immediate proximity to Charité and the Berlin Wall Memorial. The central railway station is only a 15-minute walk away, and direct underground access takes travelers to the airport in approximately 35 minutes.

VÖLKEL has assumed a comprehensive management mandate for the mixed-use property, including technical and commercial property management, accounting, and a leasing component.

As a leading specialist in the holistic management, development, and leasing of commercial real estate, VÖLKEL continues to expand its portfolio in the management of mixed-use, inner-city commercial properties with growth potential through this mandate.
